Techboard Company Traction Report Nov/Dec 2017

Every month after publishing the Techboard Ranking we publish “The Month in Australian Startup and Tech” which is a report outlining the traction that Australian Startups and Tech Companies announced or publicised that they achieved in that month. The Report contains all the milestones, Funding outcomes and News on Australian startups and young technology companies that we collect when doing our monthly ranking.

Since last month we’ve added a further 122 companies net – we’re now profiling 1,936 Australian companies. We captured 785 global press mentions of Australian companies, 280 milestones, 63 funding milestones for a total of 313 companies.

MoneyMe Tops Techboard Ranking for November/December 2017

Topping off a big year, this is Techboard’s final Ranking for 2017. We normally close off our rankings at the end of the Month but the end of November and beginning of December were massive for the Techboard Team. We had our Techboard 2017 National Awards in association with StartCon in Sydney on 30 November, followed by the StartCon Conference itself. then the Co-founders headed back to Perth for a hectic Week in the Perth Startup Calendar with the West Tech Fest which also incorporated our own event in collaboration with StartupWA incorporating the WA version of the Techboard Awards. So we decided to do our final ranking for the year covering November and the first half of December. Here it is… and have a Merry Christmas.

Techboard’s top 100 for 2017

Over the course of 2017, Techboard has been tracking metrics on Australian Startups and publishing monthly rankings that rank companies on the extent to which the metrics indicate they are trending or gaining mindshare. For the Techboard 2017 Awards we compiled a special ranking which included all ranking scores for companies we had been tracking. For the National Awards we applied certain weightings to the scores in recognition that Techboard did not have a full years data on all companies it had been tracking. For the Western Australian Awards we did not apply any weightings due to having more complete data. We are now pleased to release the list of the top 100 trending companies for 2017 utilised for the National Awards.

Power Ledger and Credi win at the Techboard 2017 WA Awards.

On 5 December 2017 leading blockchain-powered peer-to-peer renewable energy marketplace, Power Ledger, was named as the top trending startup in Western Australia at the Techboard 2017 WA Awards and online platform for managing loan agreements, Credi was named as Highest Trending Up and Coming Company.

Fintech Startups Prospa and Credi take out the top spots in the Inaugural Australian National Techboard Awards.

Over the course of 2017, Techboard has been tracking metrics on Australian Startups and publishing monthly rankings that rank companies on the extent to which the metrics indicate they are trending or gaining mindshare. The Techboard 2017 National awards are a culmination of those monthly rankings and comprised two company categories, the highest trending company overall and the highest trending up and coming company. Techboard held the event at the Sheaf in Double Bay, Sydney, in conjunction with StartCon, Australia’s largest startup and growth conference with the backing of leading sponsors MYOB.

In one week’s time we will be announcing the winners of the The Techboard 2017 WA Awards. We are pleased to release the top ten trending and top 10 trending up and coming Western Australian companies on Techboard for 2017. To be the first to find out which if these great companies win their category come along to the Techboard 2017 WA Awards on 5 December in Perth in conjunction with StartupWA. More information on the event is available here. Registrations are also now open for the free event which is part of the West Tech Fest.

Techboard’s Community Awards – Your favourite Startup Icon needs your support.

Techboard’s annual Startup Community Award celebrates an outstanding contribution by an individual to their local entrepreneurship community. The objective of the award is to acknowledge and celebrate individuals who work to support and improve their local startup ecosystem.

While in the past we have held this as a Western Australian initiative, this year for the first time we have opened the award up nationally - in line with Techboard's national expansion in 2017.

We have asked the 70+ members of our Panel of Experts in each state to collectively nominated individuals in their own states they deem worthy of the award. From these nominations we have put together a shortlist of 12 very worthy candidates - and it is now over to you, for a public vote!
