[EDITED] As part of its series of Roundtables presented by Techboard and RSM we are pleased to announce our third Roundtable event and its first in Sydney is taking place on 6 August in Partnership with RSM and Startcon at Freelancer HQ. At this Roundtable the panelists will be discussing the Future of Funding for Australia’s Startups. Read about the Roundtable series.
Techboard’s Roundtables are twist on a panel session where we have panelists around a table having a facilitated conversation on a topic related to startup and tech funding, informed by Techboard’s data all in front of a live audience. Don’t worry the audience gets to ask questions.
The conversation will explore issues and trends including those identified by Techboard in its funding reports and sharing insights from the panelists own experience.
In addition to the Techboard Funding Reports which we have been producing since 2017, Techboard is convening these Roundtable sessions with the hope of helping enrich the discourse around the challenge of funding startup and tech in Australia.
Jessica Olivier from RSM outlined her rationale for being involved, “I am really pleased to be working with Techboard on this event. My colleague Stephen Carroll from RSM in Perth facilitated a Techboard Roundtable in Perth recently which was very well received. Techboard has again put together an excellent panel bring together experience from across the spectrum of investor and funding types. I am very much looking forward to the conversation.”
Techboard co-founder Peter van Bruchem explained: “We have been tracking startup and tech funding across Australia for almost two years, even longer in WA, and are leading up to our second annual Australian Startup and Young Tech Company Funding Report. Out data is feeding into the national discourse on startups, with inclusion in critical publications like StartupAus’ Crossroads report. Through our work we can pick up and highlight trends and our Techboard Roundtables are a way we can explore these trends and add to the discourse, raising the profile of the importance of funding Startups and Tech in this country.”

The Techboard Team has a favour to ask.
We are working hard to capture as many funding events as possible for Australia’s and Sydney’s burgeoning startup scene. We collect our data in a variety of ways from semi-automated media scraping to manual research and also through companies and investors making direct reports to us. The City of Sydney has also recently subscribed to access our funding data to help it monitor the growth of its ecosystem. To ensure we get the best data possible we encourage companies to report their funding events to us, either in an announcement or a report.
