Techboard and Angels of Australia partner to present the National Angel Awards 2018

Techboard is very proud to be partnering with the Angels of Australia to present the National Angel Awards 2018 which will celebrate the contribution made by Angel Investors to the Australian Startup and Tech Ecosystem

Much activity has occurred around Australia in recent years with increased public awareness and focus on start-up and emerging company activity. Tax incentives have been made available via the ESIC scheme, and for investors to take advantage of those incentives, they need both the source of quality of deals, investment outcomes and avenues to learn about the process and how to add value.

Information on angel investment activity is disparate and fragmented, with no central qualified source until recently. Since 2016 Techboard has been tracking data on angel investment activity to fill the gap in knowledge, and now Angels of Australia have partnered with us to provide additional focus.

Angels of Australia was established in 2018 to raise awareness and involvement in the angel investor stage of investment. The group’s primary focus is on events designed to bring all angel groups together to strengthen and grow a collaborative community nationally. It is an informal group of experienced angel investors, affiliated with Australia’s prominent angel investment groups and Techboard.

Working with Angel Loop in Queensland, Gold Coast Angels and Techboard, the group seeks to reinvigorate an annual meeting to foster nation-wide communications and interaction. Previous events were delivered under the Australian Association of Angel Investors banner with the last event in 2013.

National Angel Awards

Techboard will soon be opening up nominations for the National Angel Awards 2018. The awards focus on angel investments in Australia, covering the 2018 financial year, and include categories such as Best Angel Deal, Most Active Angel Group, Best Angel Exit. The awards will be based on a data-driven assessment as well as a judging panel with representatives from each regional angel group, led by Jordan Green (Chairman of the Australian Association of Angel Investors and of the Asian Business Angel Forum). The Awards will take place on the Angels of Australia Cruise from 11-14 September 2018 (see below)

Angel Cruise

Angels of Australia’s inaugural event is a conference in September. The conference is being held on a cruise, a 4-day event where new and experienced angel investors can network, explore opportunities and grow activity.

The 2018 Angels of Australia Cruise is to the Whitsunday Islands, departing Brisbane Tuesday 11th September and returning Saturday 14th September. Themes for discussion focus on artificial intelligence, big data and how these sectors are generating new investment opportunities in Australia.

The conference will include:
