FUNDED July 2022 Anniversary Edition

This edition of FUNDED marks a milestone for Techboard and the beginning of a new financial year.  We have published a full year of FUNDED updates and are now starting a new year afresh. We have also a full five years of funding data as Techboard began capturing funding data on a National basis way back in in July 2017.

This month we added 149 new funding events, 84 new companies, 37 new investors and 132 new company founders.

Paying subscribers can use our Funding Event Search Engine to access all of our startup and tech funding data by ten variables. 

This month we have captured a total of 149 funding events, 141 of which are completed, with another 8 open or future rounds (from announcements that companies are currently raising or will soon be raising). 

Funding levels remain subdued compared to the highs in the latter part of 2021 with private investment again down slightly from June's $473m from 52 deals to $461m across 60 deals. Adding in Equity crowd funding bumps those numbers to $469 from 71 deals. In all we captured funding events with a total value of just over $1.5b. We also captured close to $800m worth of announcements of funding announcements from Funds, along with $125m worth of open raises. While the funding level is vastly lower than many months recently it is important to note that it is significantly higher than pre-2021 levels for the month of July (see the chart below).

We also captured 54 grant recipients, 3 acquisitions, 6 debt deals, 1 reward crowdfunding 5 raises on the ASX and an IPO in Canada

As foreshadowed last in last month's FUNDED we are soon going to be publishing a report following up our Female Founder Funding Report for FY2018 - FY2021. The Funding for Women Led Ventures: Gender Diversity in Australian Startup Funding FY22 Report is being published in partnership with SBE Australia with details to be announced very soon.  We are also very pleased to report that Techboard's data has also been used the Tech Council of Australia's Turning Australia into a Regional Tech Hub report to be launched on 31 August 2022 and in a Report being launched by SBE at the SBE Australia 2022 Impact Awards & 10 year Ecosystem Celebration on 1 September 2022.
