Perth-based startup electronic voting startup veri.vote has announced a name change to Mithrl.

Formed during a Startup Weekend in 2015, veri.vote was accepted into the recently concluded Vocus Upstart accelerator program.

Veri.vote initially set out to introduce secure electronic elections by using blockchain technology to conduct verifiable electronic voting.

In building veri.vote, the team discovered a more fundamental problem - proving the correctness of applications running on a blockchain.

“We saw an opportunity to set a new standard in blockchain application security.” Mithrl Co-Founder Adrian Petersen said.

“Mithrl aims to give enterprises a platform to create high assurance blockchain applications, that is applications that can be mathematically proven to function as intended, and only as intended.”

“This is especially important to enterprises where the failure of critical systems can result in large financial and productivity losses, such as in the financial and supply chain sectors. ” Mr Petersen said.

The Mithrl team consists of former University of Western Australia computer science and mathematics students and successful business and tech startup founders.
