According to the annual reports of various large Self Storage organisations, in the USA, Europe and Australia, these players are consolidating their market share, which in turn is squeezing the opportunities for the smaller players. Some of these methods include monopolisation of multiple facilities to drive down prices and costs, enabling their market domination strategies. Unified integrated billing systems have empowered facility owners to automate alignment of their security and their accounting, whilst investment in booking platforms has increased their market reach online. These kinds of investments have seen entities such as National Storage outpace the ASX by 20 percent. Of course, such investments are affordable when you have ever increasing presence and multi million dollar budgets. Medium adaptation of technology, in our opinion, is probably understated.
