As a private equity investor since 1997, Justin has led or co-led the investment of $1.58bn in 22 private equity transactions (with an average investment of $74m) which have achieved a return of $3.983bn at a money multiple of 2.49 times and an IRR over 23 years of 38.5%. Cash proceeds resulting from the 15 of those investments totalling $889m which have been fully or partially realised achieved a cash on cash return of $3.096bn at a money multiple of 3.53 times and an IRR of 47.2%. MLC Private Equity, Commonwealth Super, VIC Super and CBus Super have been investors in all 22 of these transactions.
After joining Quadrant in February 2011, Justin was on the Investment Committee for 34 Quadrant investments and Justin led or co-led 16 investments, 6 of which have been fully exited and 3 of which have been partially exited. Of these exits by Quadrant, 4 have been IPOs. (2 IPO exits previously by Catalyst.)
In 2019 Justin was involved in the establishment of the $400m Quadrant Growth Fund - including the recruitment of the team to run this new business. Whilst leading and investing this fund, Justin built a particular speciality in e-commerce and led the investment and became Chair of four of Australia’s leading online businesses: Adore Beauty, GraysOnline, Quad Lock and Modibodi.
