| Elevator Pitch: | Zena Sport is an Australian-based business founded and directed by husband-and-wife duo, Donna and Brad Johnson. This A-team have been involved with the AFL for 25+ years - Brad was a former player with a career spanning 17 seasons and 364 games. He captained the Western Bulldogs from 2006 until retirement in 2010. They know the dedication, sacrifice and discipline required to play and perform at the highest level. Four years ago (2017) as the semi-final of the first season of AFLW unfolded, Donna identified a gap in the market for gender specific protective wear; which led this duo to tackle their first business venture together. The Zena team worked with medical and scientific experts and the Australian Sports Technologies Network to design and develop the most advanced female breast and rib protection vest for all contact sports – Zena Z1. Not only does it protect, but it assists with injury prevention and recovery. The Zena vest has been proven through research conducted by Deakin University to significantly reduce impact across the upper torso - up to 75% of the force can be absorbed by the vest. |
