Elevator Pitch: | Spirogene was established in 2007 to commercialise research from Professor David Hampson of Murdoch University on an emerging poultry disease, Avian Intestinal Spirochaetosis. In 2008, Spirogene expanded its research focus to include Swine Dysentery, a significant disease of pigs caused by pathogenic Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. Through the support of Perth-based Stone Ridge Ventures and the Murdoch WestScheme Enterprise partnership, Spirogene has embarked on an ambitious research programme to translate more than 20 years of research experience into real and sustainable solutions for production animals. The founding CEO of Spirogene was Dr Alistair Murdoch, a very well respected Veterinarian who tragically passed away in 2011. Alistair managed to position Spirogene with both an international alliance to develop a vaccine to Swine Dysentery and a partnership with Prionics in Europe to develop a diagnostic test for Swine Dysentery. The Spirogene research team working with Professor David Hampson's team is small, but focused. We draw on our in-depth understanding of Brachyspira genomics and epidemiology to discover and deliver vaccine candidates with improved efficacy profiles, in accordance with strict GLP guidelines. |
