Smart Communities events

ASCA After 5 Nibbles & Drinks
The ‘Smart Communities’ month kicked off with the ASCA ‘After 5 Nibbles and Drinks’ on Tuesday 13th September. Hosted by NGT Downer at the Novotel Perth Langley, Brent, Ajay and Lauri attended as representatives for Trendwise. They had an excellent night networking with like-minded individuals, talking about the upcoming smart communities opportunities and discussing the importance of data in playing its part in Smart Cities. Oh and they also raved on about how good the food was…

ASCA National Seminar
The ASCA National Seminar was held at the City of Perth on the 14th September, which Brent attended. The key highlight Brent took away from the event was seeing what the city of Wellington had put in place to turn it into a smart city.

Everything from the lighting to the traffic lights was optimised to be as efficient as possible. Wellington were able to achieve this with hand in glove cooperation between local and federal government in New Zealand.

Smart Cities and Suburbs Program - Perth Round Table
Lastly, Brent attended the Smart Cities and Suburbs Program - Perth Round Table, held at the City of Perth on the 16th September. Special guests, The Right Honourable Lisa Scaffidi Lord Mayor, along with Martin Mileha, from the City of Perth and Graham Pattrick from the Town of Victoria Park spoke at the event. Brent was very pleased at the level of support the Federal government are supporting local government to become Smart Cities.

The event included discussions on challenges for local government and smart solutions as well as the barriers of adopting smart technology into government.

“I loved hearing about the number of ways IoT is being used to create Smart Cities, from tracking Cattle Trucks in the outback through to 3d modelling of cities for planning purposes,” said Brent.

New Trendwise sign

This month we have trademarked the front of our new office, with a fantastic, unmissable sign post! If you are driving along Aberdeen Street and see that beautiful big ‘Trendwise blue’ sign, be sure to beep as your passing or pop in and say hello to the team.

October Trendwise tip

This month’s Trendwise tip is ‘overlaying data’. If you have a number of locations with Trendwise sensors or existing Wi-Fi access points installed in, you can compare yours locations on each tile in the Trendwise online dashboard.

Whether you would like to compare interested/engaged visitors or you are looking to figure out which location has the best return frequency, Trendwise can display this information instantly for you.

You can view these comparisons by clicking the three little circles in the right hand corner of each tile. Then, click the location you want to compare in the drop down and press the update tile button.

Stay tuned next month for another Trendwise helpful tip.

Australian Smart Communities Association members

We are thrilled to let everyone know that we are now members of the Australian Smart Communities Association (ASCA). After attending a number of their events this month, we couldn’t wait to jump on board and be a part of this wonderful association.

“The ASCA facilitates, promotes and advises on how communities can build livable, sustainable, workable smart communities. We put our citizens, local businesses and stakeholders at the core of our activities”.

We look forward to attending more ASCA events in the future and cant wait to take advantage of the opportunities ASCA will bring to our innovation solution.

NEDC Conference

Our senior business development manager, Brent Pearce and Head of Communications, Ajay Jones will be showcasing the Trendwise solution at the National Economic Development Conference (NEDC) on the 5-7th October. The event is hosted by the City of Swan and will be held at the Mandoon Estate & Homestead Brewery in the Swan Valley.

The Trendwise booth will be open to all guests throughout the three days, with our sensors, online dashboard and custom reporting examples on display. We can assure you, you will not miss the bright ‘Trendwise blue’ booth when walking past!

Economic Development Australia is the peak national not-for-profit body for economic development professionals in Australia. The Economic Development sector in businesses, especially within government, is a sweet spot for the Trendwise solution. We currently work with a number of local governments to assist them in understanding how their visitors and residents interact with their entire precincts.

If you are attending the event, Brent and Ajay look forward to saying hello!
