Workers compensation is a 60-billion-dollar crater on the Australian economy. This year, an Australian retailer paid up to $250,000 in damages for an injury that occurred in the warehouse (source).

Within the first two months of 2016, there had already been 16 fatalities across all industries in Australia, mostly in construction (3) and agriculture (3).

One way to address the issue of continuing high workplace injury, fatality and disease rates is training. Not just training, but effective training. Studies show that 90% of trained information is lost after the first month. We know that training needs to be done for compliance purposes, but to truly retain knowledge and have an improved behavioural outcome that lifts the safety standards is for the delivery to be engaging and visually pleasing (Koper & Tattersall, 2005).

Because It’s not only about the raw costs and outcomes of training, benefits are evident through a cultural shift in the workplace. Research in the US construction industry reported positive benefits of safe and healthy work to corporate reputation (82% of responses), ability to contract new work (66%) and improvements in project quality (66%) (Safe Work Australia 2014).

Our early intervention mental health solution that has been designed for business to provide training on topics that impact mental health, e.g. change and burnout. IEmployees are 'one click' away from help and support. Data shows business staff groups in early mental health decline. Both solutions produce comprehensive visual reports to show the gaps in safety knowledge and the users who are experiencing issues with their wellbeing.
