It’s an exciting time at Stuck HQ – it’s launch day!

In case you missed it, Stuck is the innovative brainchild of a Perth-based team of software developers who saw the need for fast and affordable on-demand roadside assistance. With the way society is speeding towards a tech-savvy and on-demand culture, and a huge proportion of Australian motorists being on the road without roadside cover (while 3 out of 5 drivers have issues every year), the solution is Stuck.

Getting stuck sucks! Whether it’s a flat tyre or battery, no fuel, locked-in keys, mechanical issues, or a vehicle in need of a tow, your own car or one you’ve borrowed, it happens to the best of us, and help is not always on the way.

An alternative to subscription-based roadside assistance, Stuck is easy to use and drivers only get charged when they ask for help. By pairing drivers with local trusted and established experts, Stuck’s on-demand service allows you to get back on the road without your wallet shuddering in fear of on-the-spot sign up fees. In fact, your wallet can relax – all costs are completely transparent and all transactions are done safely through the app. All you need is a smartphone and a credit/debit card (or PayPal)!

Stuck keeps costs low for drivers by connecting with local automotive experts who have some availability, instead of using full-time mobile mechanics, meaning that the cost and complexity of a breakdown is reduced for everyone involved. An added benefit to connecting with local experts is the knowledge that your money is going to local and small businesses in the area; ultimately giving these local Aussie businesses more opportunity to reach new customers while getting you back on the road.

Safety is at the top of the Stuck team’s priorities list, as vehicles often wait for the most inopportune moment to break down. Usually drivers are on their own, so it’s no surprise to know that the Stuck team put all potential experts through an in-depth process of checks and clearances (including a police clearance) to ensure that they are qualified, competent, and professionally insured. After requesting help, the Stuck app uses location services to allow drivers to see where their Expert is coming from, live-tracking their location. It also shows the approaching expert the Stuck driver’s vehicle and problem details so they know what to look for. Drivers can also call their Expert and discuss their issue over the phone before the expert arrives, cutting down even more time between being stuck and un-stuck.

For an extra layer of safety, the Stuck team are currently working on the inclusion of a ‘watch over me’ feature. Drivers will be able to use this feature to share their Stuck status with another person – for example, a friend or a family member. The third party will be able to see the driver’s location and the progress and details of the expert helping them. They will also receive a notification when their loved one is safely on back on the road.

Stuck is now available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.
