We were delighted to hear that Stuck has been selected as a finalist in the 2017 WAITTA Incite Awards, Startup of the Year category. The award recognizes technology innovation excellence – something that we have strived to deliver from the outset at Stuck.
Since launching in November 2016, Stuck has helped motorists across Australia with fast on-demand roadside assistance from a network of over 250 local automotive experts. We’re proud to be helping people in their time of need whilst saving them money, and boosting local small businesses.
Whilst we are proud of the technology that we have created, we never set out to be a pure tech organisation. Rather, our goal was to simply and easily connect local automotive experts to motorists when they needed help.
“We knew we couldn’t do this without fantastic technology and the business model was going to rise or fall on our ability to create something that was simple, scalable, secure and which met the needs of both motorists and our expert automotive suppliers – the technology was key to enabling the business model,” co-founder Brendan Stocks said.
“We know that there is a large proportion of motorists out there who don’t have roadside assistance cover but when they encounter a situation like a flat battery, a mechanical issue or locking their keys in their car, it is such a stressful event for them. Sure they could call on the traditional suppliers but that was often a very costly and cumbersome process for them.
“So when we built the Stuck app, we put the customer at the centre of everything we did. Our goal was to make the app simple, easy to use and intuitive. Our tech team was terrific and they handle all the complex techie stuff so that the customer and the automotive experts don’t need to be technical gurus.
“We have put a product in the market that we are really proud of. There are always things you would want to do better or different, but we are pretty pleased with what we have built. We have a really clear road map of things we want to add to the solution but will only make those changes if it is going to improve the experience for our customers, suppliers and our operational team.
“What the team was able to produce from a small WA startup business is truly remarkable. I wouldn’t want to have had a different group of people involved – they worked really hard and produced a solution that they should be immensely proud of,” Mr Stocks concluded.
Stuck is one of five startups that have been selected as finalists in the WAITTA Incite Awards – Startup of the Year category, including BuildingApprovals.com, Formalytics, InteliCare and SpacetoCo. Our fellow finalists represent varied industries but all have one thing in common – they have all developed an innovative technology solution to address a specific opportunity or problem. We are proud to be part of this cohort of startups and look forward to the judging and selection of the winner in the coming months.
