IMR Technologies will receive $728,641 out of $6.6 million in Federal Government grants to help launch their innovative motor vehicle crash alert device, IMR Sentinel, into international markets.

IMR Sentinel is designed to reduce emergency service response times by 50% by automatically detecting and alerting emergency services to the exact location and circumstances of a vehicle crash.

“This programme is welcome support from the Commonwealth Government to help our team grow by employing more local staff and preparing to export our technology overseas to places like the European Union, China and Japan,” IMR’s co-founder and director Martyn Gilbert said.

“We are excited to be part of the latest generation of Australian technology startups which are commercialising and growing globally and we appreciate the Federal Government’s actions to foster the tech industry in Australia,” Mr Gilbert said.

Earlier this year, IMR Technologies raised $1.3 million from investors to commercialise the Sentinel technology and begin selling into global markets. Since then, IMR have expanded their labs and team, moving into Technology Park, Bentley to finalise Sentinel’s global certification and develop distribution networks and global business partnerships.

As part of the Accelerating Commercialisation element of the Federal Government’s Entrepreneurs’ Programme, businesses like IMR Technologies receive funding to commercialise their products provided they dollar match the grant funding.

The programme’s experienced Commercialisation Advisers will help the recipients to navigate this often challenging stage of product development.

Accelerating Commercialisation Director Larry Lopez said it was great to see the programme continue to support entrepreneurs, researchers and businesses to find the right commercialisation solutions for their novel product, process or service.

“To date under the programme, 253 successful commercialisation grants worth $128.6 million have been awarded to innovative businesses across the country. These grants are supporting projects across a wide range of industry sectors, and with Australian Government support many of the projects are already achieving success in global markets,” he said.
