[Perth, Australia] We AR VR announces today the early access release of DreamDesk Beta, a VR application for desktop PCs which allows users to break-out applications from their desktop into a 360° Virtual Reality environment without the need for additional display hardware.

We AR VR is an indie software development group based in Perth, Australia. Inspired by the local “innovations boom” its developers sought to commercialise the technology they had built as a hobby to assist them with software development and design.

DreamDesk VR Beta is now available on Steam (http://get.dreamdesk.io) and accepting suggestions from the community for the next release via Idea Lab.
“People don’t like sudden change.” said Pooja Mathew, Managing Director. “VR is threatening to disrupt everything they do, force them to re-learn skills they already have. DreamDesk is an easy way to adapt the software and processes people currently use to VR with no additional development or learning curve.”

DreamDesk allows users to create a multi-screen environment for regular PC applications while in VR. It combines the productivity of a desktop computer, with the immersion of VR. Users can configure their environment, how many screens they have, and the position and size of these screens without being bound by desktop space or physics. The primary display supports hardware-acceleration at 60fps making gaming, movies and hardware accelerated web-browsing possible without the footprint and expense of a multi-monitor/IMAX display.

DreamDesk provides support for keyboard and mouse, as well as the ability to navigate and switch applications using head movements – this removes the overhead of having to click to change applications.

“Just look at the application you want and type” says Ro Mathew, Tech Founder. “Our goal is to build the most efficient and comfortable VR user experience by drawing in what we know about human ergonomics, psychology, neuroscience. To make the experience beautiful and adaptive we use the latest in games engine technology and machine learning techniques.”

Virtual Reality can be an effective tool to bring together minds and improve productivity in ways never seen before. While immersion has sold us VR the real revolution in computing is User Experience. We AR VR hopes to be at the forefront of VR’s transition into our day to day lives.
