Covocate Co-founder and Director Les Delaforce, has been announced as a speaker at this years Indigenous Business, Enterprise and Corporations Conference (IBECC) at the University of Western Australia.
Les’ presentation will explore the opportunity for Indigenous people in the entrepreneurship and the tech and startup sectors through the experience of a Covocate Indigenous Co-founder.
The IBECC is the largest and premier Indigenous business and enterprise event with over 150 speakers and attended by over 600 attendees, corporations, not-for-profit and government that highlights the work and growth of the Indigenous economy, of businesses and enterprises, and of communities.
The presentation explores the opportunity of the tech, business and increasing diversity within organisations naturally.
Les said the tech and startup sectors provided significant opportunity for Indigenous people, and also a mechanism to counter some of the challenges organisations facing in increasing their diversity.
“There are organisations who are challenging current or traditional approaches to recruitment, and by doing so they are achieving greater diversity in their workforce.
Increased diversity needs to go beyond quotas, and should see Indigenous people and people from diverse backgrounds secure long-term meaningful employment”.
