For the period ending 14 September 2016
After 26 fortnights, Techboard today celebrates the first birthday of its startup and tech company ranking, with 701 WA companies now tracked and scored every fortnight, and plans to extend the ranking to other states in progress.
Online share trading forum HotCopper listed on the ASX this week, and topped our ranking as a result of the news coverage. The company raised over $12m as part of its float, and its shares closed up over 30% on its first day of trading.
HotCopper’s newly public status makes second ranked Optika Solutions this fortnight’s highest trending unlisted company. The software development company was recognised at the Australian Information Industry Association iAwards, winning the national innovation award and Big Data Innovation of the Year for its decision support software, Akumen. Optika managing director Matt Schneider said:
“Winning the 2016 iAwards Innovation of the Year for Akumen was a thrill for the whole team at Optika Solutions. While we have been around for a decade, not many people knew about us due to the nature of our work and the confidentiality agreements that go with it! Thank you Techboard for the top 5 ranking, we are keen to promote Akumen to as wide an audience as possible to truly connect people and data.”
Optika will travel to Taipei later this year to compete in the international Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
Nuheara is ranked third, scoring strong mindshare points across social media and news outlets. The company, which makes the intelligent wireless earbuds called IQbuds, was also honoured at the iAwards, as a runner up in the consumer category.
