Ajay Jones and Brent Pearce attended the 2016 National Economic Development Conference between the 5th -7th October. Hosted by Economic Development Australia (EDA) and run by the City of Swan, the conference was held at the Mandoon Estate and Homestead Brewery in the Swan Valley.
The two central themes for the conference were, local government leading the way in economic development and collaborating to achieve economic and infrastructure priorities.
Ajay and Brent had a successful couple of days showcasing the Trendwise solution to economic development (ED) professionals from all around Australia. They both had their hands full at every networking break with attendees continually wanting to know more and to see how we can help.
“It was moving to explain Trendwise to ED professionals who were amazed by the data we can capture around visitor behaviors throughout entire precincts,” said Ajay.
“A large number of professionals, especially within local government, have been searching for a solution like Trendwise for a long time.”
The event highlights included high profile keynote speakers, over 30 diverse and interactive presentations, panels and a master class, trade exhibition, technical tour as well as the all important networking, gala dinner and entertainment.
Trendwise was featured in the EDA conference app, which included details about all speakers and sessions, as well as sponsors and exhibitors. The app gave a great introduction to Trendwise, making attendees want to pop in and say hello.
Day one of the Conference kicked off nice and early, with registrations starting at 7:45am. The day included a number of inspiring keynote speakers, panel discussions and breakout sessions.
In between those sessions, ED professionals grabbed a coffee and some delicious cakes/lunch and came into the Trendwise booth to grab a brochure and business card and find out how Trendwise could potentially assist them.
Continuously hearing from attendees the current gaps in data, especially accurate visitor volumes that Trendwise can fill, was very exciting for Ajay and Brent. This is an area that will continue become apparent in this industry if those gaps aren’t filled.
Day two started a little later, luckily, as we were told the twilight markets, held at Taylors Art and Coffee House was a huge hit. A number of EDA members rocked the house down with their ‘put together’ band that made the dance floor come alive.
This day included more inspiring keynote speakers, 2017 announcements and a presentation of ED excellence awards. Networking breaks were again very busy in the Trendwise booth for Ajay and Brent.
“The key take away from the conference was seeing how important analytics and data is to Economic Development managers from all over Australia,” said Brent.
“I am looking forward to getting in touch with all the attendees and discussing next steps.”
Ajay and Brent also attended the ‘An afternoon with Wendy Dupley and Jeff Finkle’ event on Monday 3rd October, 4pm – 6pm. The free event was held by EDA at the Auditorium in the new City of Perth Library.
It was a relaxed, informal afternoon with a glass of wine in hand, that included hearing about the interesting experiences of these two international economic development professionals.
All in all, a successful week for Ajay and Brent and exciting times ahead for the Trendwise team.
