Cutting-edge home automation technology for new residential builds

It may have once be akin to the whimsical inventions aired on the 1960s American cartoon The Jetsons, but remotely operating your air-conditioning, garden reticulation, household lighting or boiling a kettle at the touch of a smartphone is now a reality.
Two Perth companies – Gemmill Homes and iZone – have partnered to offer homebuyers in cutting-edge home automation technology for new residential builds.
The iZone system, which can also be retrospectively fitted to existing properties, allows homeowners the ability to control your air-conditioning, lighting, reticulation, power, entertainment and security systems from a smart device from anywhere in the world.

It also has a touch screen interface for users to remotely control household appliances.
iZone director Mike Temple said the product has been designed to make life easier for users and help Australians overcome the high household costs, including power bills.
“We’re really big into energy efficiency,” Temple said. “If you add temperature control to house and air-conditioning, you lower the running costs of the air-conditioning, and if you add LED lighting control, you lower the energy consumption.
“You can even add occupancy control, so that if the children leave their bedroom and they leave the light on, it will automatically switch itself off.
“It’s about energy savings and adaptability. Our system can also be scheduled to come on at any time of the day and switch off automatically.”
Temple said the iZone reticulation system allows for more water wise systems, with shorter, more efficient watering times that minimise run-off. The iZone system also integrates with existing household appliances, while its reticulation ‘soak and cycle system’ allows users to schedule the watering of plants for 15 minutes and break this cycle into three blocks of five to save costly water run-off.

“iZone works with all appliances and unlike other smart technology brands, the iZone software can integrate with other brands. It is also designed to work into the future, as you grow into your new dream home.”
Gemmill Homes managing director Craig Gemmill says the iZone technology can now be incorporated into Gemmill’s new residential builds.
“The iZone system is easy to use and incredibly efficient,” Gemmill says.
“The new technology uses the same CAN Bus protocols that Mercedes and BMW incorporate into their luxury cars.
“The Wi-Fi and 4G enabled iZone app enables you to control everything in your home via your smartphone or tablet. The iZone Worldwide service allows you greater control, giving you 4G access from anywhere, for even more efficiency and savings.”
The system can be tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle and the products can be installed individually or all at once depending on the user’s needs and finances.
