Techboard put a pause on its Techboard Ranking for the month of January but we still have scoured the news and bring you the latest "The Month in Australian Startup and Tech" Report covering the period from our last report which covered November/December to the end of January. The Report outlines the traction that Australian Startups and Tech Companies announced or publicised that they achieved in that month. Since last month we've added a further 96 companies to Techboard and archived several companies that were too old or have been acquired - we're now profiling 2,018 Australian companies. 

January is always a slower month for business and news in Australia generally.  Despite the season we captured 297 global press mentions of Australian companies, 140 milestones ranging from winning awards to securing significant partners, 39 funding milestones representing over $500M of funding for a total of 219 companies.

Every month after publishing the Techboard Ranking we publish “The Month in Australian Startup and Tech” which is a report outlining the traction that Australian Startups and Tech Companies announced or publicised that they achieved in that month. The Report contains all the milestones, Funding outcomes and News on Australian startups and young technology companies that we collect when doing our monthly ranking.

Since last month we’ve added a further 122 companies net – we’re now profiling 1,936 Australian companies. We captured 785 global press mentions of Australian companies, 280 milestones, 63 funding milestones for a total of 313 companies.

Techboard Company Traction Report October 2017

Every month after publishing the Techboard Ranking we publish “The Month in Australian Startup and Tech: Company Traction Report”. The Report contains all the milestones, Funding outcomes and News on Australian startups and young technology companies that we collect when doing our monthly ranking.

  • This month we have news mentions, milestones and Funding events for 267 Australian startups and tech companies. The companies are listed in the order in which they appeared in the October Techboard Ranking.
  • Since last month we’ve added a further 100+ companies – we’re now profiling 1,814 Australian companies.
  • Among other metrics, we captured 750 press mentions (globally) of Australian companies, 226 milestones, 46 funding milestones, over 28,000 tweets and 11,000 Facebook posts, over 300 iTunes apps and 250 Google Play apps, and employee counts at 1,170 companies.
  • Five of the top ten companies are ASX listed. 94 (or 5%) of our total companies are ASX listed. The top performing (share price wise) ASX company in October was Wangle Technologies, up 80%.
  • Four acquisitions during the month: REALas (ANZ Bank), Parkhound (Spacer), HomeHello (UrbanYou) and CreditorWatch (InfoTrack).

Techboard Company Traction Report September 2017 – the Month in Australian Startup and Tech

Welcome to Techboard’s Company Traction Report for September 2017. In these reports we highlight traction by Australian startups and young technology companies, broken into the three headings of News coverage, Milestones and Funding events. We collect this data as a major input into the monthly Techboard Ranking.

This month we have news mentions, milestones and Funding events for 316 Australian startups and tech companies. The companies are listed in the order in which they appeared in the September Techboard Ranking.

  • Since last month we’ve added a further 100+ companies – we’re now profiling 1,680 companies.
  • Among other metrics, we captured 769 press mentions (globally) of Australian companies, 221 milestones, 57 funding milestones, over 27,000 tweets and 10,000 Facebook posts, over 300 iTunes apps and 200 Google Play apps, and employee counts at 1,080 companies.
  • More than half of the top ten are ASX listed, including those newly listed during the month (Titomic and Schrole). 91 (or 5%) of our total companies are ASX listed. The top performing (share price wise) ASX company in August was GetSwift, up 145%.
  • Four acquisitions occurred during the month: NuSkope (Superloop), OpenLearning (Prestariang), Babyology (Kinderling Kids radio) and ServTech Global which sold its rent roll business to Summit Development Corporation and Housemart Real Estate.

In these reports we highlight traction by Australian startups and young technology companies, broken into the three headings of News coverage, Milestones and Funding events. We collect this data as a major input into the monthly Techboard Ranking.

In August we profiled 1,571 companies.  Among other metrics, we captured 570 global news mentions of Australian companies, 149 milestones, 41 funding milestones, over 27,000 tweets and 10,000 Facebook posts and employee counts at 965 companies.  This month we have news mentions, milestones and Funding events for 248 Australian startups and tech companies. Funding Events and Milestones April 2017

Every month here at Techboard we publish a ranking of Australian Startups and Young Technology Companies (see our April Ranking). One of the most significant inputs into a company’s monthly score is milestones and funding events. We collect this information in a number of ways: we use our semi-automated google news scraper, we keep track of what we hear on the grapevine (the public information) and companies report their achievements to Techboard using our Announcements platform.
